NYPD Boosts Reward to $30,000 for Suspect in Brooklyn Police Car Arson

Officials are appealing for tips to locate Jakhi Lodgson-McCray following the involvement of federal partners in the investigation.

  • On June 12, a 21-year-old suspect allegedly set fire to 11 NYPD vehicles parked at Central and Dekalb Avenues in Bushwick, causing over $500,000 in damage and impacting nearby homes.
  • Crime Stoppers, the ATF and U.S. Marshals have contributed to the $30,000 reward, which will be paid in stages from arrest through conviction.
  • Surveillance footage captured Lodgson-McCray acting alone, carrying firestarters in a reusable bag, changing clothes multiple times and fleeing into Manhattan.
  • He is wanted for a September 2024 criminal mischief incident at Columbia University, where he is accused of disguising himself as a student to damage a campus statue.
  • Lodgson-McCray also faces pending charges for disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and assault in Manhattan and Queens that have kept him at large.
