NYCFC Dismisses Head Coach Nick Cushing After Playoff Exit

The decision follows a 2-0 loss to the New York Red Bulls in the MLS Eastern Conference semifinals and marks the club's fifth coaching change in a decade.

Nick Cushing was fired by New York City FC three days after the team’s elimination from the MLS Cup Playoffs by the New York Red Bulls.
Cushing, who became head coach in 2022, led the team to mixed results, including a Campeones Cup victory but only one playoff appearance in the past two seasons.
NYCFC finished sixth in the Eastern Conference this season with a 14-12-8 record but fell short in the conference semifinals against their cross-town rivals.
Cushing, formerly a successful coach of Manchester City’s women’s team, departs with an overall MLS record of 31-31-27 during his tenure.
The club has begun its search for a new head coach as it plans for the 2025 season, joining three other MLS teams currently without a manager.
