NYC Taxi Jumps Curb, Injures Six Pedestrians in Herald Square

A medical episode caused a taxi driver to veer onto a crowded sidewalk on Christmas Day, leaving three hospitalized and others injured.

The incident occurred around 4 p.m. on Christmas Day near Macy’s flagship store at Herald Square, a popular holiday destination.
A 58-year-old taxi driver reportedly suffered a medical emergency, causing the vehicle to jump the curb and strike pedestrians.
Six people were injured, including a 9-year-old boy, his 41-year-old mother visiting from Australia, and a 49-year-old woman, who were all hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Three other pedestrians, aged 19, 37, and 49, declined medical attention after sustaining minor injuries at the scene.
Bystanders acted quickly, lifting the taxi off the boy and his mother, while the NYPD confirmed no charges have been filed as the investigation continues.
