NYC Parks Worker Charged with Murder in Migrant's Fatal Shooting

Elijah Mitchell, 23, allegedly shot Arturo Jose Rodriguez-Marcano over a tent encampment dispute in a Brooklyn park.

Mitchell, a seasonal parks employee, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and weapon possession.
The incident occurred on July 21 at Steuben Playground, near migrant shelters in Clinton Hill.
Rodriguez-Marcano, 30, was shot multiple times and died at Brooklyn Methodist Hospital.
A separate, unrelated shooting nearby resulted in two additional fatalities linked to Venezuelan gang violence.
Mitchell's employment with the Parks Department is being terminated following the charges.
