Overview
- The city announced the Unisphere sleepovers on Thursday, Sept. 10 and opened an online lottery that runs through Sept. 13 with selected participants to be emailed on Sept. 14.
- Two after-hours nights are scheduled for Sept. 25 and Oct. 9, with 100 spots per night for a total of 200 campers.
- NYC Parks will provide tents and brand-new sleeping bags for every family, and campers may keep the sleeping bags after the program.
- Urban Park Rangers will lead programmed activities — including night hikes, wildlife viewing, campfire storytelling, nature games and s'mores — to emphasize outdoor education and safe after-dark use of the park.
- The events adapt the Parks’ long-running Family Camping series to widen access to outdoor recreation while using a limited-capacity lottery to manage demand and after-hours park operations.
