NYC Launches Holocaust Education Initiative for 85,000 Eighth Graders

New program aims to address rising antisemitism through immersive museum visits and educational resources.

The initiative will provide free tours to the Museum of Jewish Heritage for all eighth graders in public and private schools over three years.
City Councilmember Julie Menin, inspired by her family's Holocaust history, spearheaded the program.
Funding includes $2.5 million from the Gray Foundation and the museum itself.
The program responds to a significant increase in antisemitic incidents in NYC schools since October 2023.
Additional resources and staff will be allocated to support the educational effort.
