Overview

• Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said 2,500 officers will be on foot posts for the events, the largest deployment of the year.
• Thirteen staffed checkpoints on Empire Boulevard and Nostrand Avenue will screen spectators with handheld metal detectors, with J’Ouvert access beginning at 2 a.m. Monday and related street closures starting Sunday at 11:30 p.m.
• The parade route will be ringed by a double line of barricades described as a moat, with helicopters, drones, K-9 teams, and specialized NYPD units also in place.
• Roughly 200 violence-prevention workers will canvass Central Brooklyn for outreach, conflict mediation, and rapid response throughout the weekend.
• The main parade runs Monday, Sept. 1 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. along Eastern Parkway from Utica Avenue to Grand Army Plaza, with extensive Brooklyn street closures published to begin Sunday night.
