NYC Aesthetician Charged for Injecting Clients with Counterfeit Botox
Joey Grant Luther allegedly imported fake Botox from Asia, causing serious health issues, and continued treatments despite knowing the risks.
- Joey Grant Luther, 54, was arrested and charged with wire fraud, smuggling, and other crimes for injecting counterfeit Botox at his Hell’s Kitchen medical spa, JGL Aesthetics.
- Luther lacked the required New York State medical license to administer Botox and falsely claimed the counterfeit product was genuine and FDA-approved.
- Clients reported severe side effects, including double vision, drooping eyelids, difficulty swallowing, and one confirmed case of botulism requiring hospitalization.
- Despite complaints and intercepted shipments of counterfeit Botox, Luther continued using the product and sought additional supplies from his overseas supplier.
