Nyamati SBI Heist Solved: Police Recover 17 kg Gold, Arrest Six

After a multi-state investigation, authorities apprehended all suspects and retrieved the stolen gold, concluding the high-profile case.

The October 2024 heist at the Nyamati SBI branch saw 17 kg of gold worth Rs 13 crore stolen by a six-member gang led by Vijaykumar.
Vijaykumar, facing financial distress after a Rs 15 lakh loan rejection, meticulously planned the robbery over six to nine months, inspired by TV shows and online tutorials.
The gang used advanced tools like hydraulic cutters and gas-cutting equipment, while erasing evidence and spreading chili powder to evade detection.
Following an extensive investigation across multiple states, including Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Uttar Pradesh, police arrested all six suspects by February 2025.
Authorities recovered all stolen gold, including 15 kg hidden in a 30-foot-deep irrigation well, marking the resolution of the case by March 2025.
