Overview

  • Friday evening’s tornado watch covered six counties in northeast Colorado, five in the Nebraska Panhandle and three in southeast Wyoming until 10 p.m. MDT.
  • Saturday afternoon’s severe thunderstorm watch spans most of Colorado east of Interstate 25 through 9 p.m. MDT, including metro Denver and numerous Eastern Plains counties.
  • Storms under both watches are expected to produce tornadoes, winds up to 70–75 mph and hail up to 3 inches in diameter.
  • The progression from a focused tornado watch to a statewide severe thunderstorm watch reflects the storm system’s movement from the High Plains into Front Range communities.
  • Residents in affected areas are urged to review safety plans, secure outdoor items and monitor updates from the National Weather Service.
