Overview
- The National Weather Service issued a dense fog advisory in North Alabama from midnight to 9 a.m. Wednesday for Lauderdale, Colbert, Franklin, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Morgan, Marshall, Jackson, DeKalb and Cullman counties, with visibility one quarter mile or less.
- A separate dense fog advisory in Southeast Pennsylvania took effect at 12:12 a.m. Wednesday and runs until 8 a.m. for Philadelphia and counties including Chester, Montgomery, Bucks, Berks, Lehigh, Northampton, Delaware, Carbon and Monroe, with visibility down to a quarter to a half mile.
- Earlier this week in Oregon, the NWS posted a freezing fog advisory for the Northern Blue Mountains until 10 a.m. Monday and dense fog advisories for the Eastern Columbia River Gorge through Monday morning and the East Central Willamette Valley through 7 a.m. Tuesday.
- Oregon alerts highlighted travel impacts along I-84 and the I-5 corridor from Salem to Woodburn as fog reduced visibility to NWS thresholds of one half mile for freezing fog and one quarter mile or less for dense fog.
- Across all affected regions, the NWS advises motorists to slow down, use low-beam headlights, increase following distance and pull over to a safe location if visibility approaches zero.
