NVIDIA's China-Specific RTX 4090 D GPU Rumored to Launch on December 28

The cut-down version of the RTX 4090, designed to comply with China's ban on powerful AI GPUs, will reportedly go on sale next week.

  • NVIDIA is rumored to launch a new version of its RTX 4090 graphics card, the RTX 4090 D, specifically for the Chinese market on December 28, 2023.
  • The RTX 4090 D is a cut-down version of the standard RTX 4090, designed to sidestep the ban on powerful AI GPUs in China.
  • The RTX 4090 D will be based on the AD102-250 chip, a considerably cut-down version of the AD102-301/300 found in the vanilla RTX 4090 flagship.
  • The wattage of the RTX 4090 D will be cut down to 425W (from 450W) and overclocking won't be supported to prevent users from attempting to make up for the lost performance from the CUDA core reduction.
  • The RTX 4090 D will retain its configuration of 24GB of VRAM and is expected to sell for an MSRP of 12,999 yuan in China (which is just over $1,800).
