Overview

  • Nvidia has told key suppliers including Amkor, Samsung and Foxconn to suspend H20-related work, according to The Information and Reuters, with the company saying it is managing its supply chain to market conditions.
  • The Cyberspace Administration of China raised "serious security" concerns, summoned Nvidia for information, and—along with the NDRC and MIIT—issued informal guidance urging firms such as ByteDance, Alibaba and Tencent to halt orders.
  • CEO Jensen Huang said the H20 contains no backdoors and is not a national security risk, adding that Nvidia believes the chip is suitable for commercial use in China.
  • Washington recently resumed H20 export licenses under terms reported to require Nvidia to remit about 15% of China chip revenue to the U.S. government, and analysts note China was roughly 13% of Nvidia’s fiscal 2024 sales.
  • Huang said Nvidia is in talks with U.S. authorities about a potential Blackwell-based B30A for China, with any approval or timeline still uncertain.
