Nvidia Launches DLSS 4.5 as 2nd-Gen Upscaler Goes Live, 6x Frame Gen Coming to RTX 50

The update expands image quality across existing RTX cards today while higher frame-generation modes roll out to RTX 50 GPUs in spring 2026.

Overview

  • Nvidia’s second-generation transformer model for Super Resolution is available now via the Nvidia App for all GeForce RTX GPUs, with support across 400+ games.
  • DLSS 4.5 promises better temporal stability, reduced ghosting and cleaner anti-aliasing, with Nvidia citing a larger, higher-fidelity training dataset and roughly 5x more compute for the model.
  • Dynamic Multi Frame Generation adds a 6x mode that can generate up to five AI frames per rendered frame, targeting 4K/240Hz path-traced gameplay on RTX 50-series hardware.
  • The new dynamic mode will auto-adjust frame-generation levels to meet a user-set target frame rate through the Nvidia App, with availability slated for spring 2026 on RTX 50 GPUs.
  • Independent coverage notes that higher frame-generation multipliers can increase input latency and require sufficiently high native frame rates, so the benefits depend on baseline performance.
