Nvidia Ends Windows 10 Game‑Ready Feature Updates After October 2026

The company will limit future Windows 10 driver work to quarterly security patches through October 2029 and stop all updates in November 2029, a change that raises the chance that new games will run poorly on older systems.

Overview

  • Nvidia disclosed Tuesday that it will stop releasing new feature and performance updates for GeForce Game Ready and NVIDIA Studio drivers on Windows 10 after October 2026.
  • From November 2026 through October 2029 Nvidia will provide only quarterly security and critical-bug fixes for Windows 10 drivers rather than game optimizations or new features.
  • Starting November 2029 GeForce drivers on Windows 10 will no longer receive any updates, including security fixes.
  • Without driver-level optimizations and bug fixes, newer games may show unpatched bugs or reduced performance on Windows 10, which will push many gamers to upgrade to Windows 11 or seek other workarounds.
  • The decision shortens practical vendor support compared with Microsoft’s Extended Security Update schedule and could prompt other hardware makers to narrow Windows 10 support, speeding OS or hardware upgrades across the PC ecosystem.
