Nursery Worker Who Abused 21 Babies in South-West London Jailed for Eight Years

CCTV evidence drove the case, prompting civil claims and demands for tighter nursery oversight.

Overview

  • Kingston Crown Court sentenced Roksana Lecka to eight years in prison and barred her from working with children after a trial that found 21 infant victims.
  • Police bodycam and interview footage showed Lecka giving “no comment” answers and offering no explanation, which investigators say compounded parents’ distress.
  • CCTV captured assaults including pinching, scratching and repeatedly kicking a boy in the face at Riverside Nursery in Twickenham and Little Munchkins in Hounslow between October 2023 and June 2024.
  • Lecka admitted seven counts of child cruelty and was convicted by a jury of 14 further counts, with three acquittals; Riverside Nursery has since closed.
  • More than half of affected families are pursuing legal action against operator Dukes Education, and MP Munira Wilson has urged no‑notice Ofsted inspections and routine CCTV review in nurseries.
