Overview

• Roksana Lecka, 22, admitted seven counts of cruelty and was convicted of 14 more by a jury in June, with three counts resulting in not guilty verdicts.
• Police say the abuse occurred between October 2023 and June 2024 at two south-west London nurseries, mostly at Riverside in Twickenham and one count at Little Munchkins in Hounslow, and Riverside has since closed.
• CCTV reviewed by detectives showed repeated pinching and scratching under children’s clothes, babies pushed headfirst into cots, a toddler’s mouth covered, and a boy kicked in the face several times.
• Parents delivered impact statements describing visible injuries, sleep and separation problems, relocations, work disruption after the nursery closure, and deep mistrust of childcare.
• The CPS labeled the conduct "exceptional cruelty" and said she targeted children when colleagues were not watching, while police evidence also recorded her using cannabis before shifts and vaping near a baby.
