Overview
- The 4xLP set features the complete January 30, 1985 First Avenue performance plus 20 additional live recordings from throughout that year.
- Four preview tracks are available now: “The Girl Who Lives on Heaven Hill,” “I Apologize,” “If I Told You,” and “Folklore.”
- Engineer Beau Sorenson restored the First Avenue recordings, which survived a 2011 house fire that destroyed part of Hüsker Dü’s archive.
- The First Avenue set includes five songs later issued on Flip Your Wig and covers such as the Beatles’ “Helter Skelter” with a pre-fame Dave Pirner and the Byrds’ “Eight Miles High.”
- The box includes a deluxe booklet and full tracklist, with the release arriving as broader SST-era reissues remain complicated by longstanding disputes.
