Nuggets’ Cam Johnson Leaves With Right Knee Sprain, MRI Pending After Dallas Loss

The forward is set for an MRI to determine how serious the injury is.

Overview

  • Johnson went down with 9:18 left in the fourth quarter on what appeared to be a noncontact play, then limped to the bench and did not return.
  • Denver listed the injury as a right knee sprain during the game and has not provided a timetable for his return.
  • Coach David Adelman said after the 131-130 defeat that Johnson will undergo an MRI and that the team is hoping for the best.
  • Acquired from the Nets in the Michael Porter Jr. trade, Johnson has started 27 games and is averaging 11.8 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists in about 31 minutes.
  • The Nuggets are already without Christian Braun (ankle) and Aaron Gordon (hamstring), and some outlets suggest Tim Hardaway Jr., Bruce Brown and Julian Strawther could see larger roles if Johnson misses time.
