Nuevo León Invests 70 Million Pesos in Belgian Roof and Renames CARE for World-Champion Divers

The governor says the Belgian-imported canopy will be in place by March 2026 under a two-year master plan to upgrade the state’s aquatic infrastructure.

Overview

  • The state will allocate 70 million pesos to install a Belgium-imported roof over the Centro Acuático CARE.
  • The aquatic complex will be named Centro Acuático Osmar Olvera Ibarra and its high-performance school will become Centro Educativo de Alto Rendimiento Juan Manuel Celaya Hernández.
  • Officials confirm that installation began in August 2025 at Parque Niños Héroes and is scheduled for completion by March 2026.
  • The upgrades follow Mexico’s medal haul at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships led by Osmar Olvera and Juan Manuel Celaya.
  • A broader two-year master plan will modernize sports villas, boost coach salaries and expand scholarships for Nuevo León athletes.
