Overview
- The memorandum of understanding was signed on August 8 by Governor Samuel García, Mayor Víctor Treviño and Green Corridors CEO Mitch Carlson during the 34th anniversary of Puente Colombia, which has seen daily crossings jump from 800 in 2022 to 10,000 in 2025.
- Green Corridors has pledged $17 billion for two Texas developments: an $8 billion, 13,000-acre Talise project at I-35 and US-83 and a 3,300-acre Gateway Industrial Park north of Laredo.
- Under the agreement, Mexican operations will be coordinated from an Interpuerto de Salinas Victoria base that Green Corridors is preparing to support cross-border logistics.
- Coordination mechanisms are now in place to align infrastructure planning, streamline trade facilitation and deploy an intelligent freight transport network across the border.
- Officials aim to build on current volumes by scaling Puente Colombia toward a 20,000 daily crossing target by 2030 through the new investments and smart cargo systems.
