NTPC launches 6th edition of Girl Empowerment Mission

Overview

  • The sixth edition of NTPC’s Girl Empowerment Mission has commenced across 17 states, enrolling more than 2,600 girls from communities near its power stations.
  • Participants receive residential training in basic academics—Hindi or local language, English, mathematics and environmental science—alongside modules in computer literacy, yoga, health, hygiene, safety, fitness, dance, theatre, sports and public speaking.
  • The program includes industrial visits and motivational lectures by distinguished dignitaries to broaden participants’ career and personal development perspectives.
  • In Ramagundam, 120 girls have already completed the 28-day workshop, earning commendations from district collector Koya Sriharsha and NTPC executive director Chandan Kumar Samanta.
  • About 10 percent of participants will be admitted to NTPC-run schools for high school education, ensuring continued support for standout trainees.
