Overview
- CMD Gurdeep Singh said NTPC will pursue nuclear plants through the ASHVINI joint venture with NPCIL as well as through its own projects.
- NTPC is working with multiple nuclear technology providers and state governments to identify and develop individual sites.
- ASHVINI has been operationalised after government approval for the NPCIL (51%)–NTPC (49%) venture under the Atomic Energy Act.
- The company has created NTPC Parmanu Urja Nigam Ltd to drive standalone nuclear development as part of its cleaner baseload strategy.
- NTPC reports 82,926 MW of installed capacity across coal, liquid fuel, hydro and solar, and views nuclear as increasingly important over the next two to three decades.
