NTA Publishes Provisional UGC‑NET Answer Keys for 84 Subjects, Holds Back Three Papers

The release lets candidates check responses and file paid challenges while a committee reviews English, Commerce and Sociology and NTA has ordered remedial steps for those papers.

Overview

  • The National Testing Agency released provisional answer keys, question papers and candidate response sheets for 84 UGC‑NET subjects on August 16 and opened an online challenge window that closes at 11:59 p.m. on August 18.
  • Candidates can access their documents at ugcnet.nta.nic.in, compare recorded answers with the provisional key and submit objections only through the official portal.
  • Each challenge costs ₹200 per question and the fee is refunded if a challenge is upheld; subject experts will review valid objections and accepted corrections will be applied to every candidate in the affected subject when final keys are prepared.
  • NTA withheld the answer keys for English, Commerce and Sociology while a committee examined complaints about repeated questions, typographical and translation errors and alleged leaks, and the agency has directed remedial action including a retest for those three papers.
  • Provisional keys for Joint CSIR‑NET and ICAR AIEEA (PG) & AICE (PhD) were also published on August 16 and NTA has urged candidates to rely only on its official website and verified social channels for further updates.
