NTA Opens AISSEE 2026 Registration for Sainik School Admissions to Classes 6 and 9

The cycle covers established plus newly approved Sainik Schools through an OMR exam in January.

Overview

  • Candidates can apply online at nta.ac.in or exams.nta.nic.in until October 30, with fee payment permitted through October 31.
  • NTA will provide an application correction window from November 2 to 4 ahead of the January 2026 test.
  • The exam will be held in pen-and-paper mode across 190 cities, lasting 150 minutes for Class 6 and 180 minutes for Class 9, with Class 6 offered in 13 languages and Class 9 in English.
  • AISSEE 2026 will be used for admissions to 33 established Sainik Schools plus 69 newly approved schools for Class 6, with 19 of the new schools also eligible for Class 9 in 2026–27.
  • Eligibility requires ages 10–12 for Class 6 and 13–15 for Class 9, application fees are Rs 850 for General/OBC(NCL)/Defence/Ex-servicemen and Rs 700 for SC/ST, and qualifying minima are 25% per section and 40% overall except for SC/ST.
