NSW Urges Residents to Claim Nearly $300 Million in Unclaimed Funds

Recent system upgrades alongside a shorter business reporting window aim to speed returns via the Revenue NSW register.

Overview

  • Revenue NSW lists nearly $300 million owed to people at NSW addresses across more than 800,000 items spanning small sums to multimillion-dollar payments.
  • An additional about $394–$395 million is held for people registered at addresses outside NSW who are still eligible to claim.
  • Sydney’s CBD and eastern suburbs account for more than $91 million, with about $76–77 million in western Sydney and $22 million across the Central Coast and Hunter.
  • The Labor government upgraded Revenue NSW systems in 2024 with Service NSW integration and cut the business holding period from six years to two to speed repayments.
  • More than $21 million was returned last financial year, and residents are urged to search the online register and verify their identity to claim funds.
