NSW Police Arrest 752 in Four-Day Operation Targeting High-Risk Domestic Violence Offenders

Officials call the Amarok blitz an intelligence-led push against the state’s most dangerous domestic violence perpetrators.

Overview

  • Police laid 1,629 charges, executed about 275 arrest warrants, conducted 1,464 bail checks, made 13,369 AVO checks and identified 395 breaches during the operation.
  • Officers conducted 120 firearms prohibition order searches, seizing 87 firearms and 30 other weapons to reduce lethal risk.
  • In a notable incident, officers rescued a woman from the Parramatta River at Wentworth Point and charged a 33-year-old man with assault, choking and intimidation offences.
  • Since its launch in 2023, Operation Amarok has resulted in about 6,600 arrests, 13,500 charges, more than 1,400 firearm bans and the recovery of hundreds of guns and other weapons, according to police.
  • Support services warned they are bracing for increased referrals triggered by the crackdown and urged additional funding to manage ongoing safety planning and support.
