Overview
- Earlier this month, crowd surges and computer failures at Canterbury Park Racecourse, Randwick and Sydney Olympic Park forced the postponement of exams for about 20,000 students.
- The department held rescheduled tests over May 17–18 and 24–25, allowing affected students to retake exams with only their best score counted.
- Some parents criticized the retake policy as unfair to students who completed their tests without interruption.
- Education Minister Prue Car appointed former federal education secretary Dr. Michele Bruniges to lead a review of both the initial disruptions and the delivery of rescheduled exams.
- The independent review is due by mid-July and will issue recommendations on future test administration before results are released on July 31.
