NSW Locks In 8.5% Salary Boost for 50,000 Health Workers

Workers will see pay rises from July 2025 to support service repairs by curbing staff turnover

Overview

  • Public health staff will receive a 4% raise plus 0.5% superannuation from July 1, 2025, followed by a further 4% increase on July 1, 2026.
  • The agreement covers over 50,000 roles across NSW Health, including allied health professionals, hospital cleaners, scientists, security officers and patient transport staff.
  • It exceeds the former 3% wage cap and stands as one of the first major outcomes under the government’s reformed fair pay and bargaining framework.
  • New workplace conditions guarantee higher-grade duties pay after three days, extend rest periods to 10 hours and require four weeks’ notice for roster changes.
  • HSU NSW secretary Gerard Hayes called the settlement a major stride toward wage justice for support staff who keep hospitals running.
