Overview
- The coastal low has prompted severe weather warnings in the Mid North Coast, Hunter and Northern Tablelands with 65–100 mm of rain likely in 24 hours and isolated totals above 130 mm.
- Moderate flooding has been reported on the Peel River at Tamworth and the Namoi River at Gunnedah as catchments swell.
- Unseasonal snow and black ice across the northern tablelands have forced the NSW SES to preposition road-crash crews and advise motorists to avoid non-essential travel.
- Damaging gusts exceeding 90 km/h have lashed coastal fringes while offshore swells of 4.5–5.5 m and waves up to 10 m raise erosion and maritime hazards.
- Forecasters say the system will weaken from Sunday and clear offshore by Monday, bringing a return to drier, brighter conditions early next week.
