- Members of the Australian Turf Club voted down the $5 billion Rosehill racecourse proposal last week, halting plans for 25,000 homes and a new Metro station in Sydney’s west.
- The NSW Department of Planning has approved amendments for a 1500-apartment development at Blackwattle Bay with 7.5 per cent of units reserved for affordable housing.
- The Blackwattle Bay redevelopment, set to deliver its first homes by 2028, is projected to create around 4300 construction and precinct jobs.
- Premier Chris Minns has ruled out forcible acquisition of Rosehill and is exploring alternative sites across Sydney, including Glebe Island, Camellia and the Woollahra rail corridor.
- Other locations under consideration for accelerated housing projects comprise Sydney Olympic Park, Callan Park, Long Bay jail and the Randwick barracks precinct.
