New NSPCC polling triggers a seasonal campaign highlighting 24/7 Childline support.

Overview

  • A YouGov survey of 4,259 UK adults found a majority believe children face greater risk of harm and exposure to domestic violence during the festive period.
  • More than three in five adults in the West Midlands reported heightened concern, while the share rose to over two-thirds in the South West.
  • Respondents most frequently pointed to financial pressures (71%), substance misuse (67%), food insecurity (64%), extended family time (62%) and reduced support services (53%) as drivers.
  • One in eight adults said they had worried about the safety of a child they know during Christmas.
  • The NSPCC has launched a new campaign and is urging young people to contact Childline at any time on 0800 1111 or online, noting thousands sought help last winter.
