NSE Cuts Lot Sizes for Nifty, Bank Nifty Derivatives From Oct. 28

The recalibration aligns contract values with SEBI’s Rs 15–20 lakh framework using September index averages.

Overview

  • Lot sizes change to Nifty 50: 65 (from 75), Bank Nifty: 30 (from 35), Nifty Financial Services: 60 (from 65), and Nifty Mid Select: 120 (from 140), with Nifty Next 50 unchanged at 25.
  • Revisions take effect at end-of-day on October 28, 2025, while existing weekly and monthly contracts retain current sizes through the December 30, 2025 expiry.
  • For quarterly and half-yearly contracts, revised lot sizes apply from end-of-day December 30, 2025.
  • The day spread order book will be unavailable for Nov 2025–Jan 2026, Dec 2025–Jan 2026, and Dec 2025–Feb 2026 contract combinations.
  • NSE directed members to notify clients and update trading applications with revised contract files available on the exchange’s extranet, as part of the rollout.
