NSE Crosses 12 Crore Registered Investors After Eight-Month Surge

The exchange attributes the jump to digitization-led onboarding.

  • Total investor accounts on NSE stand at 23.5 crore as of Sept. 23, after crossing 23 crore in July.
  • Women now constitute one quarter of registered investors, with a median investor age around 33 and nearly 40% under 30.
  • Participation covers 99.85% of India’s pin codes, led by Maharashtra (1.9 crore), Uttar Pradesh (1.4 crore) and Gujarat (1.03 crore).
  • From April to August, roughly 2.9 crore new SIP accounts were opened as average monthly SIP inflows rose to Rs 27,464 crore.
  • So far this fiscal, Nifty 50 is up 7% and Nifty 500 up 9.3%, NSE-listed market cap is Rs 460 lakh crore, and individuals own 18.5% of the market.
