Overview
- Both major stock exchanges will observe a full-day trading holiday on Wednesday, August 27, covering equities, equity derivatives, currency, commodity derivatives, SLB, EGR, debt and repo platforms, and related reporting venues, per BSE notices.
- Normal market hours resume on Thursday, August 28, with all NSE and BSE segments reopening as scheduled.
- Commodity bourses follow limited hours on the festival day, with MCX shut in the morning and trading only from 5:00 pm to 11:30/11:55 pm; NCDEX also resumes in the evening after a morning halt.
- Banks are slated to be closed in several locations, including Mumbai, Belapur, Nagpur, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Hyderabad, Panaji, and Vijayawada, under state holiday notifications.
- The mid-week pause creates a four-session trading week, with the next market holiday set for October 2, followed by Diwali-related closures and an evening Muhurat trading session on October 21.
