NSE, BSE Set Diwali Muhurat Trading for Oct. 21 in Afternoon One-Hour Window

Exchanges shifted the session to align with the Kartika Amavasya tithi considered auspicious for the start of Vikram Samvat 2082.

Overview

  • Both bourses will run the Muhurat session from 1:45 pm to 2:45 pm on Tuesday, October 21, with a pre-open from 1:30 pm to 1:45 pm.
  • The schedule includes a block deal window from 1:15 pm to 1:30 pm, a special pre-open for IPO and relisted stocks until 2:15 pm, and a closing session from 2:55 pm to 3:05 pm.
  • All orders executed during the Muhurat window will carry normal settlement obligations, as specified in the exchanges’ circulars.
  • Trading will be available across key segments including equities, equity derivatives, currency derivatives, commodity derivatives, and securities lending and borrowing (SLB).
  • Regular trading will be closed on Diwali with only the special one-hour window available, and this year’s timing differs from last year’s evening slot.
