NS Extends Extra Peak Trains Via Rotterdam Through Thursday After Meteren Crash

Replacement buses cover the GeldermalsenDen Bosch gap during 24/7 repairs to roughly one kilometer of damaged track.

  • Following Thursday’s level‑crossing crash that lightly injured five people and led to the evacuation of more than 500 passengers by bus, trains between Geldermalsen and Den Bosch remain suspended until Friday 7 November with stopbuses via Zaltbommel.
  • NS says at least two direct trains each way between Utrecht and Heerlen will run in the morning and evening peaks through Thursday via Rotterdam.
  • Monday delivered more than the four extra peak trains first planned, and NS expects to operate more than four extra peak services in the peaks for the rest of the week.
  • The Rotterdam detour adds roughly one hour to the UtrechtHeerlen journey.
  • ProRail reports a round‑the‑clock repair by Strukton with a special access road, lighting, hundreds of sleepers, about two kilometers of rail and a switch, while overhead lines and underground cables are confirmed intact.
