NS Adds Monday Peak Trains Via Rotterdam During GeldermalsenDen Bosch Shutdown

Crews rebuilding one kilometre of track at Meteren after a truck collision keep only a small number of peak-hour trains running.

Overview

  • Rail service remains suspended between Geldermalsen and Den Bosch through Friday, 7 November, with stopbuses operating on that section.
  • ProRail and NS arranged four additional peak-hour trains on Monday between Utrecht and Eindhoven/Heerlen via Rotterdam, and continuation beyond Monday is undecided.
  • A train struck a truck carrying pears at the Meteren level crossing, leaving five people with minor injuries and leading to the evacuation of more than 500 passengers by bus.
  • ProRail reports roughly one kilometre of track was damaged, while the overhead lines and underground cables stayed intact.
  • Strukton is working around the clock on repairs in a large logistical operation, bringing in about 500 sleepers, two kilometres of rail, a switch and ballast, with a special access road and lighting set up on site.
