Overview
- NPCI’s June 16 mandate reduces UPI transaction, status check and reversal times from 30 seconds to as little as 10–15 seconds.
- Time to validate a payee’s UPI address has been trimmed to 10 seconds to speed up payment approvals.
- Users are now restricted to 50 daily balance checks on UPI apps to ease system load during peak periods.
- UPI providers must show only the actual beneficiary’s name and disable any feature that allows edits to that field.
- Banks and apps can recheck pending transactions after 45–60 seconds instead of 90, failed requests are auto-marked, and further security upgrades are slated for August.
