Novovoronezh Nuclear Plant Restores Unit 6 Cooling Tower, Unit 7 Returns to Full Power

The operator emphasizes reliability upgrades alongside strong safety performance.

Overview

  • Unit 7 reached 100% power at 06:40 MSK on November 3 after a scheduled maintenance outage with modernization work.
  • The overhaul included fuel reloads, cleaning and partial replacement of cooling tower components, and upgrades to the turbine’s automatic control and protection system.
  • Unit 6’s evaporative cooling tower has been repaired following an October 6–7 drone strike, with cosmetic damage addressed and coatings restored, according to a station official.
  • Rosenergoatom said the drone was suppressed, there were no casualties or structural destruction, and plant operations were unaffected.
  • Units 4–7 are operating normally with a combined load of 3,746 MW, and local radiation levels match natural background readings.
