November Brings Tighter EU Loan Checks, Ryanair Digital Boarding, and HD‑Only Public TV

  • From November 20, the EU Consumer Credit Directive mandates creditworthiness checks for mini-loans and Buy Now, Pay Later offers, including amounts up to €200.
  • From November 12, Ryanair will end paper boarding passes and require digital passes generated in the myRyanair app, with the main booker able to forward e-cards to fellow travelers.
  • From November 18, ARD and ZDF will end satellite SD distribution for several channels, which will cut off public-service broadcasts on TVs without HD reception, and major cable operators plan SD switch-offs by year-end.
  • From November 1, Italy introduces a helmet requirement for all users in ski areas, with ADAC citing €100–€150 fines and potential ski-pass revocation for violations.
  • The Kulturpass for 18-year-olds ends at year-end, and remaining balances can only be used until the end of November.
