Nova Scotia RCMP Officer Charged With Sexually Assaulting Third Woman

McNutt will be arraigned in August on the latest count ahead of an October trial for earlier allegations.

Nova Scotia's police oversight agency has confirmed that an RCMP officer is again facing a charge of sexual assault.
William (Billy) McNutt played professional basketball in Europe before joining the RCMP in 2021. The suspended officer is accused of sexually assaulting three women between July 2019 and May 2024.

Overview

  • The new allegation brings to three the number of women McNutt is accused of assaulting between July 2019 and May 2024.
  • McNutt joined the RCMP in 2021 and was suspended without pay in January 2024 after a separate sexual misconduct allegation.
  • He has pleaded not guilty and is set to stand trial in October 2025 in Shubenacadie on charges from July 2024 and in January 2026 in Amherst on a 2019 allegation.
  • Assistant Commissioner Dennis Daley described the additional charges as extremely alarming and confirmed an ongoing internal code-of-conduct review.
