Nova Scotia Liberals Call for Recount After Leader Zach Churchill's Narrow Defeat

Churchill lost his Yarmouth seat by 14 votes as the Liberals suffered a historic collapse, dropping to just two seats in the legislature.

Liberal leader Zach Churchill has requested a judicial recount after losing his Yarmouth seat to Progressive Conservative Nick Hilton by 14 votes in last week’s provincial election.
The recount was requested to ensure confidence in the election process, with Churchill's campaign citing computer glitches and discrepancies in reported vote tallies on election night.
The recount for Yarmouth is scheduled to take place on December 9 at the Yarmouth Justice Centre, with results unlikely to change according to Churchill's official agent.
An automatic recount will also occur in Annapolis, where PC candidate David Bowlby defeated Liberal incumbent Carman Kerr by just seven votes.
The Liberals dropped 14 seats, falling to third place with only two seats, while the PCs secured a second majority with 43 seats and the NDP became the Official Opposition with nine seats.
