Notre Dame's Top Receiver Mitchell Evans Out for Season with Torn ACL

Junior Tight End Mitchell Evans to Undergo Surgery Next Week, Raising Pressure on Replacement Players Holden Staes and Eli Raridon Amid Playoff Contention.

Notre Dame's junior tight end Mitchell Evans, who leads the team with 29 receptions and 422 yards, will miss the rest of the season due to a torn ACL. The surgery is expected to be performed next week.
Evans took over as the starter this season after the previous record-breaking tight end, Michael Mayer, was selected in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Notre Dame, currently ranked 12th, will look to Holden Staes or Eli Raridon to fill the void left by Evans' injury. Staes currently has 12 receptions for 163 yards and has the most touchdown catches in the team.
Eli Raridon only recently returned from a knee injury but will be tasked to step up along with other players in the team to make up for Evans' lost production.
Despite the loss of their key player, Notre Dame (7-2) is still competing for a playoff position as they prepare for their next game against unranked Clemson (4-4). To date, there has never been a team with two losses in the playoff bracket.
