Notre Dame Starting QB Enters Transfer Portal, Backup Takes Over

Despite winning the starting job earlier in 2022, Notre Dame quarterback Tyler Buchner is entering the transfer portal with the intention of potentially leaving the school.
Buchner suffered a shoulder injury during the second game of the season but returned for Notre Dame's bowl game victory.
Wake Forest transfer Sam Hartman is expected to take over as the starter for Notre Dame in 2023.
Hartman threw for nearly 13,000 yards and 110 touchdowns over five seasons at Wake Forest.
Buchner may transfer to Alabama, Stanford or TCU, who all lost quarterbacks to the NFL draft.
