Overview

  • The reinstallation process started on June 23, 2025, when a crane lifted the 3.4-metre copper statue of Saint Paul onto the spire’s base
  • Sixteen statues depicting the apostles and four evangelists were removed for restoration four days before the April 2019 fire and thus survived the blaze
  • Each figure was renovated in Dordogne between 2019 and 2021 and has been on display at the Cité de l’architecture since early 2023
  • Mgr Laurent Ulrich blessed the statue of Saint Paul before it was hoisted back into place, marking a ceremonial milestone
  • The €1.4 million restoration was funded 85 percent by the Fondation Notre-Dame and is scheduled for completion by the end of July
