Overview

• Sandeep Lohar, wanted for a ₹4 crore nickel plates heist near Kanpur, was shot during an exchange of fire at the Yamuna river bank in Baghpat district on June 29.
• Police said Lohar had allegedly killed over four truck drivers and faced more than 16 cases across Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Maharashtra.
• A ₹1 lakh bounty and covert digital surveillance helped STF and district police trace and confront the suspect.
• STF constable Sunil Kumar was wounded in the operation and is receiving treatment at a local hospital.
• Authorities recovered a pistol, motorcycle and cartridges at the scene and are now pursuing remaining gang members in ongoing inter-state investigations.
