Nothing Spins Off CMF, Names India Headquarters in $100 Million Optiemus JV

The shift targets the sub-$200 segment following a $200 million funding round.

Overview

  • CMF will operate as an independent subsidiary based in India, taking on end-to-end R&D, manufacturing and global operations.
  • Nothing and Optiemus signed a binding term sheet to create a manufacturing joint venture committing over $100 million and targeting more than 1,800 jobs in three years.
  • The partnership is intended to establish India as a production and export base for devices from both Nothing and CMF, including smartphones, earbuds and wearables.
  • The companies did not disclose the joint venture’s ownership structure, facility locations or expected production capacity.
  • The move follows Nothing’s $200 million Series C at a $1.3 billion valuation and aligns with IDC data showing $100–$200 phones made up over 42% of India’s Q2 2025 shipments.
