Overview
- Nothing expanded its Nothing OS 5.0 (Android 17) open beta on Tuesday to include the Phone 4a, Phone 3a and Phone 3a Pro, joining the Phone 3 already in testing.
- The beta package is roughly 2.8 GB and users are given about one week to enroll through Nothing’s Beta Hub before the window closes.
- The update brings a new system typeface (Geist), refreshed icons and widgets, camera enhancements including video filters and Dual‑View, and a dedicated Glyph app for managing the phone’s light interface.
- Some users have seen temporary ‘no download’ messages as the staged rollout comes online, a delay Nothing uses to throttle demand and to allow region and carrier certification.
- Nothing says these phones are on track for an official Android 17 release in early November and that the company expects the full, phased rollout to finish by January 2027.
