Notable Speech Wins the Lockinge Stakes at Newbury

Overview

• Godolphin’s Notable Speech captured the Group 1 BoyleSports Lockinge Stakes on Saturday, quickening clear over Newbury’s straight mile.
• The ten-runner field included progressive Damysus and Karl Burke’s Zeus Olympios, with late market support also pushing Notable Speech to the fore.
• The victory follows a lean run for trainer Charlie Appleby through the spring trials, a turnaround highlighted by the Racing Post after recent defeats at Lingfield and York.
• Sky Sports Racing televised the 2.35pm feature, a key early-season mile that often points contenders toward Royal Ascot’s Queen Anne Stakes.
• The Newbury card also featured the Carnarvon Stakes and the London Gold Cup, undercard races known for producing future Group performers and Royal Ascot winners.
